Our staff has participated in the following types of projects
- Environmental permitting process for large manufacturing operations (mainly Maquiladora type projects) located in Mexico and for several small industrial, commercial and housing developments. Projects involved air, water, land use, Environmental Impact Assessment, hazardous and non hazardous waste, and health and safety related permits. Various projects involved federal, state and municipal permitting.
- Environmental Site Assessments, encompassing Due Diligence Audits and Phase I, II and III Environmental Site Assessments on manufacturing operations and vacant properties in Mexico, the United States, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Venezuela and Colombia.
- Prepare Federal Environmental Impact Assessments (Mexico) encompassing various types of industrial and commercial operations. Several of the projects have involved the development of Environmental Risk Assessment (Modeling) and Accident Prevention Programs.
- Prepare State and Municipal Environmental Impact Assessments (Mexico) and Environmental Assessments for projects involving construction of industrial facilities, office buildings and commercial operations. Several of the projects have involved the development of Environmental Risk Assessment (Modeling) and Accident Prevention Programs.
- Environmental Health and Safety compliance audits for a Major Multinational Corporation (MNC) with manufacturing operations in Mexico and the United States. Identifying and summarizing non compliance findings, reporting HS&E risks and informing the MNC’s corporate office. Recommendations were prepared based on compliance requirements and industrial best practices.
- For an international company managed, directed and supervised emergency environmental cleanup efforts in response to flooding occurrences in Tabasco and San Luis Potosi Mexico.
- For a multinational company managed and conducted more than 15 energy efficiency audits for facilities located in Mexico and the United States. Finding reports and recommendations were prepared and selected based on an economic return of investment strategy.
- For International financing organizations, governmental agencies and hedge funds, HICKS has conducted evaluations of the Internal and International Performance Standards on Social and Environmental Sustainability such as those developed by the World Bank International Finance Corporation (IFC).
- For several projects our team members have participated in the assessment of biogas generation at landfills in Mexico. Also, our team has participated on the design and installation of landfill gas collection systems and the selection of operational variables. Creation of operations and Clean Development Mechanism compliance manuals for the Kyoto Protocol.
- For various companies in Mexico our team members have participated in the operational diagnostic, redesign, startup, and management of industrial wastewater treatment systems.
- For a large Five Star Hotel in Chihuahua, Mexico our team members participated in the maintenance of the hotel’s wastewater treatments system, its potable water treatment system and the recoating and maintenance of its underground potable water tanks. Hicks Environmental performed this project with no disruption to normal hotel operations.
- Our team members have also participated as advisors and consultants to State government authorities.
